buy a capo and keep practicing your chords and you'll be able to play a lot of T. Swift (as well as a lot of other country songs). "Sweet Home Alabama" by Lynyrd Skynyrd was the first song I learned on guitar. Its a good one for learning the basic chords and switching from picking to strumming (plus everyone knows it, so you can show off to your friends)

You should check out Chordie, it is a search engine that gets tabs and chord sheets from many different tab sites on the web. Look at the public songbooks, there are lots of them for beginners, and there will probably be a few that match your personal tastes in music.

ok i know you are beginner so the best thing to do is execises for example the spider exercise look it up on youtube they will explain eventually you will feel muscle growing in your fingers then after a while jump on to some songs here and there hmm... a good beginner guitar song is "you are my sunshine" look it up on

they have alot of good tabs and to read tabs you must first learn this

E B G D A E

it will be read like this

E---2---------------------------

B---3---------------------------

G---2---------------------------

D------------------------------

A------------------------------

E------------------------------

the best thing to remember is "upside down" for example the top string "E" on the guitar would be the bottem string i know this is confusing but I learned it by my self. anyway the numbers listed above represent what fret number to put ur fingers on since it is lined up it will be a chord the chord is "D" Major.

now when the numbers or seperated they are notes for example listed below you will play the notes not the chord.

E-2-----------------------------------

B-----3-------------------------------

G----------2--------------------------

D--------------------------------------

A--------------------------------------

E--------------------------------------

For country, a good song to practice your chord transitions is Toby Keith's "Should of Been a Cowboy".

It goes G, D, C and you have to be quick to make it sound right.

For rock, "Hey Joe" by Jimmi Hendrix is a good one because it uses 5 major open chords. They go in this order: C, G, D, A, E.

For another easy song, you can play "Whats Up" by 4 Non Blondes. I learned it playing Em, G, D, but the right way to play it is A, Bm, D.

Hope this helps, hang in there while you're learning, it does get easier, I promise. Once you become good at playing, you'll be so happy you stuck it out through the learning process.

First song I ever learned on guitar was "Brown Eyed Girl" by Van Morrison, but I would say pretty much any rock 'n roll from the fifties or early sixties should be easy. Anything with open chords.

I'm not really sure, but the Acoustic version of My Heroine by Silverstein sounds pretty easy. You might want to check it out...even though it's not country.

These songs are kinda simplified versions of the propers songs to give you some cool stuff to play while you are starting out. They will sound good strummed and help you get a grip of your chord shapes and something to play at your next BBQ :) All these have a pdf chord lyric sheet.

Google search "guitar tabs". You will get links to sites that have "tabs". The Tabs have the words to a song and the chords. Pick some easy songs you know to start with. Eagles are fairly easy and ZZ Top songs mostly have just 3 chords. Good luck and have fun!
