Question:
Yamaha Stage Custom 5-piece drum set or the PDP Concept Maple 7-piece drum set?

I'm a beginner drummer and I'm looking for a drum set that doesn't cost a small fortune, but isn't the cheapest in the world. I don't know witch brand is better, (I think it's Yamaha) and im only considering the PDP because it has 7 drums, whereas the Yamaha has 5 for the same price.

Here's the links

PDP: http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/PDCM2217SB/

Yamaha: http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/SCB2FS57BK

Also can anyone recommend a set of cymbals that has hi-hats, a crash, and a ride for under $300?

i would take the stage custom just look at the hardware it's much better it's important that you considerate the hardware when you buy a drum set. the quality of the hardware will determinate your comfort and technic development. and the sound, well the pdp is maple and the yamaha is birch you have to prove both and see which one you like more. personally i prefer the yamaha stage custom sound and well there's an excellent jazz drummer called henrique de almeida and he uses a yamaha stage custom check the videos and you will know what you can do with those drums it's without doubt a professional kit.
