Hey, you guys!
I'm having a hard time looking for some good musical theatre and it has to be original. Anyways, I need a good female solo songs from the musical theatre stage so I can participate for the Thespian competition. Here are some Solo Musical Theatre Rules:
RULES
1.The musical theatre selection must come from a musical theatre production which has been written and produced for the musical theatre stage. Upon request, you must show proof of the origin of the source material.

2.No medleys, screenplays, or Vegas style reviews are allowed. Each selection may contain dialogue and each participant must be actively involved in the musical selection.

3.The performer MUST use non-vocal musical accompaniment which can be live or taped unless expressly written to be performed without musical accompaniment. If we hear ANY voice on the accompaniment tape, you will be disqualified.
4.All material should be presented as if within the context of a full production.
5.The performer may choose to dance without singing if that is in keeping with the context of the full musical.
6.Not to exceed five (5) minutes.
MATERIALS
1.Three (3) chairs and one (1) sturdy table will be provided.
2.The performer MUST provide his/her own cassette player.
3.A piano MAY NOT be available.

So, please help me. Thank you :)
By the way, sorry for the spellings and grammar. English is my second language, so please forgive me :)

Typically, you want to stay away from Les Mis, because the female solos from that musical are painfully overdone. However, both "I Dreamed a Dream" and "On My Own" can show off the female voive very nicely.

One of my favorites is "Happily Ever After" from Once Upon a Mattress. "Shy" is also a nice one from that musical.

Here are some more, let me know if you need any more information on them.

"Spark of Creation,""Stranger to the Rain," and "Aint it Good" - from Children of Eden

"No Good Deed," "The Wizard and I" or "Defying Gravity" - from Wicked

"Someone Like You" - from Jekyll and Hyde

"Someone Else's Story" - from Chess

"Good Morning Baltimore" - from Hairspray

"Maybe" or "Tomorrow" - from Annie (better if you are young)

"Suddenly Seymour" - from Little Shop of Horrors

"I Don't Know How to Love Him" - Jesus Christ Superstar
