Here's the deal, unless your aunt is either well to do or a professional guitar player that can afford to give guitars away, I wouldn't expect this guitar to be of very good quality to start with, Now the fact you say its old, Was it played on a regular basis or was it stored away in the closet or used for decoration? If I were to guess I'd say your aunt bought an entry level guitar years ago to learn to play on but never really had any success and has now passed it down to you, The reason I say never had any success is due to the fact she gave it to you in the condition its in, as she most likely didn't know it was unplayable, And as you say it has an adjustable Bridge leads me to go with JCR, could be an old Harmony, Kay, or other low end archtop, in which case some of these were pretty bad and almost unplayable when they were new, It may be a lost cause if this is the case, but fret naught as it would make a great room decoration, just not a playable guitar, which is the fate of many of these old guitars of that caliber. Hey I've got a few old Japanese made guitars hanging on the ceiling along with some RC airplanes and such, And yes most of those airplanes have been wrecked and don't fly anymore, but there cool to look at and each one has a story

Take it to a shop for a check up - but full-stop on repairs until you get a ballpark price. It may turn out that it's just a poor old thing that's not worth repairing - or not. Whatever, since it didn't cost you anything, and that was a sweet thing for your Aunt to do, keep it, as it might hurt her feelings if she found out you just dumped it. All in good time. Be nice.

I've only been learning acoustic guitar for 2 years.Mine is a Takamine Gseries. What you are describing may best be checked out at a repair shop.No harm in it having a service, clean maybe even re-strung.That way you know exactly what your working with. The technician will give a full rundown.I had this done with mine which I purchased secondhand.Being a lefty I got a good deal.

Might be a situation you see a lot with old Harmony and Kay archtops (is that what it is?), where the neck is badly bowed and someone drastically reduced saddle height to try and make the low and middle frets playable, at the cost of playability at the neck/body junction. Can't tell for sure without seeing it.

Raising the action at the bridge may get rid of the buzz, but will make it harder to play everywhere else. As Mikey suggests, you could show it to a tech for a hands-on diagnosis, but don't be too surprised if they suggest replacement.
