rent, the phantom of the opera and the producers have all had big screen adaptations made within the last year.... did you prefer the broadway productions over the movie productions?

Broadway without a doubt! I have seen broadway versions of Phantom, Rent, and the Producers and much prefer the live performances to their movie counterparts. There's something about the people being right there perfroming in front of you that I like better than watching people perform on a screen.

i love watching plays on broadway, unfortunately in good ole ohio a good broadway rendition only comes through once in a while; i have seen phantom on stage much preferred it to movie, but rent as i've heard is fairly close to the live version. it's like a book put to film... it's much better to read the book, but the movie can be really good if they make it close to the book (i have been disappointed by almost all the harry potter movies because they tend to stray from the books and leave out important info.)

Broadway is better, of course. But movies *can* be okay if they stick to how the original was done, like 'Rent'. It was really close to the original play. It can bring the musical to people who can't go to broadway because of money or distance.
