Playing with other musicians? Playing along to bands that play in odd time signatures? Checking out drum lessons(such as Mike Portney of Dream Theater)?

I mean, I would venture to say these are all good things to do, but I actually want to know about them and how they work. Any good sites that really explain odd signatures, polyrhythms, things like that?

Definitely do some independent study. If you know how to count them before joining other musicians that would greatly help.

This looks pretty decent. I don't know how familiar you are with regular time signatures but you need a solid grounding there first.

Hey,

This course is even better than a personal guitar teacher http://www.goobypls.com/r/rd.asp?gid=554

the site has thousands of videos and well explained lessons, everything is explained step by step and it's easy to follow. I haven't found any better online training course elsewhere.
