Should I buy a Pedal Board?

So I use about 4 or 5 pedals going from a Fender American Standard Strat with a humbucker in the bridge and a Fender Blues Junior III Humboldt Hot Rod w/ Cannabis Rex Speaker. I'm using a Boss FRV-1 Reverb pedal, Freekish Blues Betty Boost Booster/ Overdrive, Mod Tone Clean Boost, Danalectro Fish & Chips EQ, and I might get a compressor. I play primarily blues of all types, and Jazz and alt rock fusion kinda stuff. I'm not in a band, and I don't gig, but I do have jam sessions occasionally. Should I get a pedal board to better organize my things? I was thinking of getting this Gator Pedal Board:

I don't want to spend too much, and those patch cables are pretty expensive since I need multiple. What do you think? Should I get one, or just buy a compressor with Patch Cables w/o the board.

The other answerer had basically the right idea - if you're going to use more than 2-3 pedals, a pedalboard is a good idea. If you're gigging, a pedalboard is a very good idea - I'd say that you should have one by default, that way you don't have to setup and takedown your signal chain every time you play.

Every additional piece you have in your signal chain is one more place that something can go wrong - from cables going bad or not being all the way plugged in, to batteries or adapters not working, pedals going wonky, etc. So, if you're going to have a bunch of them, a pedalboard is great because it's a one-time setup with no further maintenance. And having onboard power is really nice too, so you don't have to worry about batteries.

You don't need expensive patch cables between pedals, especially if they're buffered bypass (like Boss) instead of so-called "true bypass". But that's another story. Anyways, don't go crazy on your patch cables, you don't need to.

If it was me, I would get the board... keep it simple, y'know?

To me, 2 or 3 pedals is the max I'd use w/o a board. Maybe I'm just lazy, but I find it much more convenient to carry them around, set them up and power that many pedals using a pedal board. I hate using batteries also. I just use the Boss BCB-60. It's not a huge board since I only use a few pedals and it works great for me. Not too expensive either. It comes with foam in the bottom that is precut for Boss pedals. I use mainly Fulltone pedals so I just pulled the foam out and used velcro instead. You didn't mention if you're a gigging musician or not. If this stuff just gets set up in your home and rarely moves then a pedal board isn't really needed.

nicely, from what i've got viewed and my adventure, maximum metallic bands have their distotion from their amp yet then there are some that use pedals. i've got self assurance the Ibanez Tube Screamer is a used one, i take advantage of the Boss metallic Zone that's extraordinarily solid, this is a md, what else are you able to declare? additionally, look into the DD-2 or DD-3 (postpone) by using boss, the hot one isn't undesirable, in fact i think of this is a postpone/Reverb petal, yet once you desire that mixture pass with the DD-5. A Dunlop Wah and a Morley quantity does not be undesirable the two. For the main section, the main significant outcomes i've got viewed is a Distortion, postpone and Wah, the quantity is effective for swells and what no longer. apart from, a Noise Suppressor and an EQ won't be a bad theory for tone. as far as a Rock Band, you have extra thoughts there. no longer which you will desire to cut back your self in a metallic band, i'm purely dealing with what's known. In a rock band, I drew thought from Morello and Einziger (RATM and Incubus). refrain, Flangers, Phasers, Tremolos, Delays, Wahs, Whammy (attempt to get the unique one), quantity, Filters, the thoughts are infinite. which you need to to objective the line 6 DL-4, MM-4, and FM-4, they are postpone, Modulation, and that i won't be able to remember the final one yet i like them. Boss, for my section, is the terrific thank you to pass. incredibly, experimentation is the main, you are able to exchange the order to make diverse tones, stack postpone on postpone, course them to diverse amps, and do exactly countless issues. On good of that, perhaps look into an E-Bow, I plan on getting one to play with. do no longer cut back your self, in case you like an outstanding form of pedals choose for it, although, remember that the extra you have, the extra potential issues you would be able to handle. each so often this is terrific to maintain a sequence-up trouble-free yet although, simplicity does not take a seat nicely with some. desire this helps!
