Looking for a New Guitar Amp?

Ok here's the deal;
I play stuff like pink floyd, the beatles, muse, and radiohead (in other words I would like an amp that could go from warm cleans to a heavily distorted sound). Money is not necessarily an option, but if I have to spend over $1000 I'd like to get something that has enough power to be played at a medium to large sized gig WITH a PA (aka at least 30/40 watts). I will use pedals with this as well. I tried Fender and Marshal but they weren't for me. Any boutique brands that would have something like what I'm looking for?

O and another question; How much does a Mesa Boogie go for? Like the Rect-o-verb head and cabinet (without customized appearances)?

Easy answer, you need tubes!!! Pretty much every major amp manufacturer has some kind of tube amp. However, tube amp wattage, especially when it comes to mesa boogie, is extremely under rated. I have a mesa boogie triple rectifier and it is too much for pretty much any where. It pushes out 150watts. The amp is a killer but most times you can't push it loud enough to get the full tone out of it. The rect-o-verb comes in a 50 watt model which can be some what wanting at larger gigs. If you want an amp with a lot of versatility, try the road king series. This amp can do pretty much anything you want. It has a lot of channels too so you can have lots of different tones on the same rig. The rect-o-verb last time I looked is about $1300 and the road king is around $2200. A rectifier 4x12 cabinet is about $900. It may not still be available but check out the "F" series of amps by mesa too, they are sweet. Also, mesa boogie stopped charging for customizations a while back, you may be able to get an amp made just for you for the same price, you'll just have to wait for it.

I really recommend the Peavey Classic 30! All Peavey amps are built like tanks, never ever break man. I found this one to sound great! I usually buy Peavey's for their durability, but this one sounds amazing!

Give the Marshall AVT series a go, I've found it to out do any amp I've ever tried in a store. They're cheap, simple, easymaintenancee. It's a hybrid amp, so you get the best of both worlds. I still prefer it over anything from Mesa's to the Marshall JCM/JVM stuff.
