There has been something stuck in my throat for the past few days and it's really affecting my singing. Is there some kind of drink that's not too expensive and can help my voice clear up?

You have been given some very bad advice from some untrained singers apparently.

First, using your voice as little as possible is not the way to become a better singer. The vocal cords are muscles and, like any muscle, need to be exercised and trained. Granted you don't train for a marathon by going out and running 25 miles the first day, but you don't train for one by sitting on the couch watching TV either. The voice needs to be trained by using proper singing technique, keeping the muscles in the neck and throat loose, keeping the larynx low, breathing properly and not stretching and straining to sing outside your range. And people who quote "you need to sing from your diaphragm" know absolutely nothing about singing.

As for what to drink, water is best. Keep yourself hydrated. Lemon is a horrible suggestion because it is acidic and will dry out your vocal cords (any citrus is bad that way). Same with caffeine (coffee, tea, soda) or alcohol. Those things are fine to drink, but not before you need to sing for any length of time. Also, you shouldn't take antihistamines before singing (also dry out the cords).

I would advise you to not take advise from this site. Go find a good vocal coach and get your advise on singing from an expert.

I use lemon and honey - lots of honey. Not tea - unless it's herbal. Chamomile will help inflamation, but don't use your voice after drinking it.

I know this sounds gross, and it absolutely is. But drink a tablespoonful of olive oil (OLIVE OIL, not another oil) before you have to use your voice. Always before you use your voice, not just when you're under the whether. It really does wonders - lubes those vocal chords right up.

When a thing is stuck in your throat you do not ask strangers on the internet what to do. You call an ambulance because you are choking to death. What you have is an odd sensation with an unknown cause. You should see a doctor.

You should have a neti pot to keep your nose clean and vitamin C spray to keep your throat clean. Type "neti pot" in the Search box at the top of the page to see what it's about.

Lemon juice, honey and a little bit of water mixed up is good for your voice. I perform on ads and musicals and i sing back up at concerts and i always had this no matter what!!! So amazing! Good Luck!

There is no drink that will help this. Relax and use your voice as little as possible.
