Takamine D-series? Worth it?

So I went to Allans Music and a couple of shops around Sydney looking for a guitar in the 200-300$ price range, and I liked this Takamine electric-acoustic. At $369 it's a little out of budget, but I'm willing to pay the extra amount if it is worth it.

Here are the specs:
Body Shape NEXC
Top Spruce
Back: Mahogany
Sides: Mahogany
Binding: Ivory
Roset: Multiple Rings
Neck : Mahogany
Fingerboard: Rosewood
Fingerboard Inlay: Acryl Dot
Number of Frets: 20
Scale Length: 644mm
Nut&Saddle: PPS
Nut Width: 42.5mm
Trussrod: Two way Adjustable
Bridge: Rosewood
Strings: D'Addario EXP
Finish Glossy
Electronics TS-1N (made by SHADOW Germany)

It's a Takamine TED50, from their D-series.

Does it sound good? I played it and it sounded pretty good, but I don't know about the wood and preamp etc.

Also, I've heard that Takamine guitars are pretty reliable, which is very reassuring, but there are plenty of people who have no idea what I'm talking about as well.

Any opinions on this guitar? Worth getting for the price?
I've posted this before so let me make it clear, I want to know why or why not to get the guitar, not to have brand names thrown at me for no particular reason. I know for a fact that the Fenders at that price range are rarely any good, so please... don't just chuck random brands at me.

Thanks =)

Well. If your budget is only $200 - $300 and you're willing to pay extra for this Takamine I think it's worth getting. For that price Takamine's are a really good guitar. Probably the best in their price range and they still compare to some of the better guitar's that are at a much higher price.

It's also handy having it electric acoustic. My friend has a Takamine, I think it's D Series as well and I don't mind playing it.

It sounds good plugged in as well as just acoustic.

I'd say for you're price range then definitely a good choice. I probably wouldn't suggest any other guitars for that price range because honestly they all are ****.

You'd have to end up getting an SX or Ashton or something like that and they are really terrible instruments.

So for that price range Takamine's are very good and these days people are comparing them to Maton's which you pay $1000 - $2000 for.

The only thing I'd say I don't really like about the guitar is the action is too high but you can easily get that lowered.

So for the price, definitely a good guitar.

Takamine is a piece of ****.

Buy a nice guitar (well, not nice as in a cadillac, but a quality brand)

Also, please do yourself a favor and buy an acoustic without electronics.

May I suggest an Alvarez. I believe they have a fine guitar for under 300.

[EDIT: I just realized you wanted more out of a response, or I assume.

Reasoning behind the Alvarez: beautiful guitars, fine wood, extremely rich sound over time, and they arent your generic crappy acoustic folk - they have love.

Reasoning behind avoiding Takamine: are you that guy that doesnt care about the tone of his guitar and just has it because he wants to sit under a tree with a backwards new era sports cap and play Dave Matthews so all the girls and stoners think youre cool?]

I very much enjoy the answer above about how YOU have to put the guitar in your hands and play it and the shape of the neck and the feel in your hands is paramount to your enjoyment. I have played $10,000 guitars that I would never buy because the neck shape did not fit and there's thousands of guitars out there that do. Yamaha's deliver amazing value at whatever price you choose. The FG700 has a solid top so it will age, solid tuners and will grow with you as you get better. When you're ready to rock the coffeehouse and plug in, you can mod it or get a guitar with onboard amplification, but you will always have this very good sentimental guitar making you one of millions of people who learned on a Yamaha.
