I'm looking to buy an acoustic-electric guitar soon and I'm considering two guitars. The Yamaha A3R and the Taylor 714ce. Yes there's a huge price gap but I trust Yamaha's quality. Price really doesn't matter to me.

Taylor all the way. Yamaha is fine, but not even in the league of Taylor. I own a Taylor 815ce. It is simply magnificent, a dream to play, a dream to hear, it even SMELLS good! Taylor is an utterly professional guitar, and it is the professionals choice world wide. There are very few concerts where you will not see a Taylor. If money is not an issue for you, you would be very wise to choose a Taylor, particularly any of their Rosewood models and I believe the 714ce this year is Rosewood as is my 2010 model year Taylor 815ce. Good luck!

Make sure you have a chance to actually try out the instrument before you buy. What might be right for one person is not for another.
I had a bad experience with a Yamaha guitar a non-playing friend got me as a gift. It had structural problems from the get go which made it virtually unplayable (and untunable--it would slip out of tune in a matter of minutes). But I've tried other guitars by this company and they were okay.
But really, if price is no object, please get the best guitar you possibly can and take care of the thing like it's your baby. You'll have invested in a fine instrument that will last for years and years. Go with the Taylor if you really trust quality.

Yeah taylor def but its price range is not even close like that other guy said way of its league...yamaha isnt really a brand just dedicated to guitars or just instruments so try to avoid those brands some of them do sound nice they are a good decent guitar but if you can get a taylor there is no question about

Yamaha makes very good beginner guitars, but you can't even mention them in the same breath as a high-end Taylor!

Yamaha has been making musical instruments sense 1887, Taylor sense 1974, play both guitars and choose the one you like best and stop listening to these other dummy's.
