Hello, I am deciding between Roland Roland TD-4S V-Compact Series Drum Kit TD-4S and the Alesis DM5pro (with surge cymbals). recently I went to guitar center and tried out the roland and enjoyed it and the salesmen recomended I get that one saying it was amazing. Unfortunatly they didnt have the alesis. I have looked at both their features and pretty much are itdentical, They both can be tuned, muted ect. The Alesis even has the advantage of being able to add on! The only differnce is the price Roland is 1000 vs 800 alesis. What am I missing here why is the roland more expensive what would you recomend?

In my opinion, the Roland kit is the better deal. The Alesis kit comes with their very antiquated DM5 module. Sounds are going to be a problem in the sub-1000 range. Honestly, I suggest using electronic drums with MIDI and a software on the computer like Addictive Drums, which have much better samples. If I were to purchase edrums, I'd get a good laptop, cheap audio interface, and Addictive Drums. More money for sure, but the sounds are also way more realistic.

they are both great setups with excellent sounds and a variety of features that are very useful. Roland is always a bit more expensive than everything else. Try to find a store that has the alesis and try them also then you can make a better informed decision

personally i wouldnt get either i prefer the sound of acoustic drums if i was to get anything electronic it would have to be something that atleast looked realistic and those prices are ridiculous. If you have your mind stuck on one of those id trust roland more
