If I trigger my bass drum should I stuff my drum full of pillows?

I've seen alot of drummers stuff their bass drum full of pillows when they use triggers, and others dont. Should I? I'm using a roland trigger going through a Roland SPD-S sampler.

I'm not cheating, I do not have my sampler set to use only the highest velocity, so the trigger reacts to how hard you hit the drum. so don't give me ****.

Who cares if it "cheating", as long as it works, right?

Triggering is the way to go! You get high quality, consistent sound every strike and can layer several sounds together to create the "monster bass drum". One of my favorite sounds is layering a big gated kick drum with a very dry small kick sound. Plenty of attack with a lot of "breath"

As far as dampening the drum, that is really a matter of taste and volume considerations. With the drum dampened you can reduce your stage volume somewhat and rely on strictly the triggered sound for tone. This may be ideal in a practice situation or on gigs where overall volume is a problem. Experiment with both and decide for your self what works better for your situation. Keep in mind that you may wish to alter the setup depending on the room you are in, etc.

The pillows is for the tone of the drum, try it with pillows, and do whichever you like better. Plus, i wouldn't give you **** for it, especially cause I was considering buying triggers for that, but I don't need to anymore, I'm a lot better, haha.
