Does freelance mean performing for no pay? I'm assuming yes, but just wondering if I have been a freelance musician, lol. Thank you!

Freelance is another way of saying self employed. Someone who works freelance, is hired by the job, and not on contract. A Musician who works freelance, would hire out for studio session work, fill in for bands, or even possibly work for a single tour, or show. Preforming for no pay makes you an amature.

Freelance means they don't employ you. You get the job, you play the music, you submit an invoice, they pay the invoice.
So you are paid, but not "an employee".
As a freelance musician, you might be working with a dozen or so different people/companies. You will set your rate of pay with each one and you bill them as per what you both agreed.
While an employee knows their payday, a freelancer will often find they are billing customers at the end of the month and not being paid for up to 60 days - so cashflow can be a problem in the early days.
As a freelancer you are self-employed, so will need to do your own accounts and pay your own tax.
I hope that helps.

Freelance/Freelancer = A Freelance worker, or freelance is a self-employed person who pursues a profession without a long-term commitment to any particular employer.
A Freelancer can work with anyone legally.
A Freelancer can perform with no pay? NO!
Payment for freelance work also varies greatly. Freelancers may charge by the day, hour, or page or on a per-project basis. Instead of a flat rate or fee, some freelancers have adopted a value-based pricing method based on the perceived value of the results to the client.

Freelancers are people who aren't committed or tied down to any particular group other than for the completion of a particular job.
As a freelancer, sure you can work for free but, generally, you're doing the work for some kind of compensation.
In another manner of thinking, think of freelancers as 'temps'.
As a temp you can work a particular job for an hour or an afternoon or even longer. In the end you work til the assignment is done, & then move on to another job situation. In a musical setting, you can be brought on to do a gig, or record a particular part, or go out & do X number of shows. You'll get some kind of compensation for bringing your particular talent to the table. But once the 'gig' is done, you're free to move on.

A freelance musician gets work by the job and gets paid by the job, as others have already said.
To START getting work or to get into a musical network, you may need to occasionally play without pay. This is more for the networking benefits; to meet people who may be able to get you a gig or refer a gig to you. Or, for example, if you want to private teach, you may offer to give a free master class at a school. This may not pay right away, but you will hopefully gain at least one private student from that master class and hopefully more if the teacher at that school helps get the word out about your teaching.
Freelance musicians are often willing to do many varied things in order to get as many jobs as possible. This might include playing without pay. But the point is always to get paid eventually. :-)

Freelance means that you work at home, or you are independent. Most musicians are freelance. they work for different people.

It's very possible to learn to sing well. You just need to know the right methods. Learn here https://tr.im/sbOce
Singing teachers will cost money and can be expensive so they're not for everyone. Singing can be learned so it's not an "either you have it or you don't" kind of thing.
Whether you sound like crap or you're decent, I recommend this singing course. It's one of the best methods to learn to sing well in a short amount of time. It's all about using efficient techniques that work.

It means you should spend more time practicing and less time posting the same couple questions hundreds of times with dozens of accounts.
