I am looking to get a new acoustic and I am using musiciansfriend.com to do it. I have narrowed my choices down to these two guitars. Any advice?

Takamine acoustics are generally better than Fender, but it really depends on the particular model. I'd really recommend you go to Guitar Center and try them out before you buy one online from MusiciansFriend. They carry pretty much the same guitars. I'd suggest you look at guitars with solid spruce tops. You should try different body styles too. Dreadnoughts are nice and have a good full sound but you might prefer a smaller body style like an OM (orchestra model) or auditorium style. Some Takamines use a NEX body which I really like. It's always a personal thing though picking out an acoustic instrument, so you really should try them out for yourself.

I've played a lot of guitars, and under $500 my favorites are Yamaha, Takamine, Seagull, and Walden. If you go over $500 you should look at Taylor, Martin, and Breedlove (and some of the higher end Takamines are very nice). If you want to spend more on electronics, check out Takamines Cool-Tube preamp in some of their higher-end models.

Get the Tak and buy it at a music store if you can. You'd be surprised that you can get pretty much the same price and have a face and a place to go along with your purchase.
