Jeans are now appropriate for Broadway and off-Broadway at any time of day. The only time they wouldn't be appropriate would be if they would offend the people you're going with or if you were attending a party or event afterwards or before (eg. opening night party).

For an off-Broadway matinee, jeans are totally fine. The idea that one has to dress up for the theatre really is passe and went out in the 60s, when shows like Hair started to bring a wider range of people into the theatre.
Having said that, I can't imagine anyone turning up in sweats and a grubby t-shirt, either.

Chicago theatre is informal, extraordinarily in the afternoon. you will see human beings in denims; a sundress is fantastic. To Henry: She suggested "wicked." needless to say she potential "a traveling production of a Broadway prepare." Are you no longer responsive to this utilization?

I would say about 20% of people wear jeans while 80% dress up a bit (ex. black pants). Enjoy Wicked! I saw it twice and it's my all-time favorite!
