If you mean drummer as in percussionist then practice mallets before you do snare drum, it will help a lot.
If you mean drummer as in drum set player then I suggest you get some lessons from someone in town.

Start off with rudiments on the snare drum like single stroke roles, double stroke rolls and Parradidles. Build these up to speed then start playing simple 4/4 time beats on hi hat snare and bass drum. You should play along to simple drum songs like Acdc. Play rudiments to a metronome as well as beats so you can improve timing and speed.
After that it gets more complicated, I advise you to get lessons from the very start.
