You should try fender. Fender makes great bass and normal guitars, especially acoustics. Check out the Guitar and Bass Gear 2009 Magazine and they have tons of acoustic bass guitars to look at!

You are planning on learning guitar? 6 string guitar or bass guitar? You mention both. bass: Acoustic bass is just that, an acoustic bass. 4 or 5 strings, flat top, hollow body, acoustic guitar version of a bass. The volume is low, very poor out put and you need to amp it, whether unplugged or not. In a band, the acoustic bass will not be heard unless amped. Electric bass: I have a fretless electric bass with tape wound strings to give it that slippery upright bass feel and sound. So you can get an acoustic bass sound out of an electric bass. Seeing that you will have to amp it any way, do not bother with the acoustic bass. Fender Jazz bass would be a good start. Or fender Precision bass. I do not recommend a fretless until your are better at finding the notes on the neck. Now, if you are talking about playing a plain old acoustic flat top guitar, that is an entirely different animal than a bass guitar. An acoustic guitar, called a flat top, or FOLK guitar is a standard, 6 string, acoustic guitar. I hope that I helped in some way. e-mail for further details.

I JUST got a Dean Acoustic bass because it was the cheapest one I could find. I think if you're seriously looking into one, you should probably wait until you can spend a lot on it. I have regrets, haha. I had to have mine taken in before I could even play it because it buzzed for some reason. But I love it now that it's fixed, they're definitely worth having. Good luck!

I like the Godin but the Bass should always be plugged in if you want my opinion, try the Fender Precision if you want to play the bass, or a nice upright if you really want that acoustic sound.
first off all i dont advise you to buy an acoustic bass unless you plan on playing bass in an acoustic exclusive band or something, cause seriously who plays acoustic bass? but anyways, if you insist on buying one then go to musiciansfriend.com or guitarcenter.com and buy one from there, i wouldnt spend more than 200-300 dollars on one. which i wouldnt buy one in the first place. i played bass in a band and ive been playing bass for years and ive never once thought about buying one.
