The difference between a Yamaha guitar and a Martin guitar is the difference between a Toyota Corolla and a BMW 750iL: Both will get you from Point A to Point B with no drama, but you'd expect the experience to be more pleasant in the more expensive device.

So it is with Martin. A typical guitar from the American maker might run $4,300, while very nice Yamahas can be purchased for $199 -- literally the sales tax on the Martin.

A MARTIN. Definitely.

I have a Martin and a Yamaha acoustic, and the Martin is so much better...

But Martin's are so much more expensive...a beginner guitarist would fare very well on a Yamaha.

BUT, BUT, BUT! You yourself should go play each guitar and choose for yourself which is truly the best FOR YOU! I may prefer the Martin, but you might prefer the Yamaha! It's all a matter of opinion!

BMW 750 vs Lexus 650LS (Toyota) and see what happens. A Yamaha handmade in Japan has nothing to envy to a Martin A price equal the Yamaha always be better

You are making a mistake. Buy a guitar at a guitar store not at Best Buy. If your guitar requires setup the music store will do it for free. Best Buy is not going to. A guitar store has a giant selection and salespeople who play guitar and can give you expert advice. They're both dreadnoughts, which are not my favorite. I'd recommend a Yamaha FS-720S.

LOL. Corolla vs BMW? That's the most absurd hyperbole I've heard since, "If you like your plan, you can keep your plan."

I live in PA, and I've been to Nazareth. So I love Martin guitars. I own a GPCPA4R and a vintage D28. But I spend over 80% of my time playing a Yamaha FG-160 and LSX26C.

high end Yamaha compared to a low end Martin you may be able to make a comparison. but then again Yamaha isn't known for stellar guitars

You'd need to list the models of each.

And listen for yourself, in the end you should be playing the guitar you think sounds best.

overall, martin enjoys a reputation as a far superior guitar. true connoisseurs know that you must play and compare each guitar in order to know its true worth.
